About this Costume
- Construction Details:

Lady Amalthea's dress is made of a crepe back satin (with the crepe side on the outside) and the pockets and laces are another crepe satin, just in a darker shade of purple. I used a medieval dress pattern as a base, but ended up modifying it quite a bit. I made it a lace up in the back, instead of a zipper because I thought it looked more authentic and pretty! I also widened and lengthened the train on the dress. The sleeves were the most difficult part, mainly because they are such an odd shape. I have seen a lot of other cosplayers do a puff sleeves, which looks adorable, but didn't seem to look quite like what was happening in the movie. I did a few tests with some really ugly yellow fabric, but finally found the right shape. Basically it's almost a puff sleeve, but I gathered it to make it tight around my shoulders and then attached it to the dress.

rnThe trim I found online and at first was worried about the color because it was a little peachier than I wanted, but on the dress it ended up matching just fine. I bought a pair or cute ballet flats for Rapunzel and I've been hanging onto them for when I finish her, but ended up sacrificing them for Lady Amaletha. I painted them the same color as the dress with some of my metallic paints. I should also note, this is my very first costume with pockets! How exciting!!!

rnI also made a Lir costume for EVZombie to go with my Lady Amalthea, but he's not as finished as I'd like him to be. I still don't have photos of him yet, but hopefully soon I will be able to do a shoot for the both of them. - Personal Thoughts:
- The Last Unicorn is definitely one of my favorite movies. I remember first seeing it years ago and as soon as I owed a copy of it, I must have rewatched it a thousand times. Just recently I found out that The Last Unicorn movie and author were screen touring around the United States and that they were going to be having an event not far from me in November.

rnI knew that I had to go to this and in costume. Lady Amalthea was already on my planned cosplay list, but I bumped her up for this special event. I rushed to my local JoAnns in search of the perfect fabrics. Normally I have a tough time finding all the right materials, but for some reason I found everything I wanted in the exact color I needed too! It was fate!
