Construction Details:

The dress is one piece with a light blue bodice attached to a robin's egg blue skirt. The corset was hand-made in a dark navy blue (her corset always looked blue to me plus Aurora's Briar Rose dress is such a similar design I wanted the two to be distinctly different in case I choose to do Briar too). The shoes are vintage and looked so exactly like her's in the movie I just had to have them.

Personal Thoughts:

This costume was a dream. I've wanted this dress since I was a little girl watching the movie for the first time and I cried when I put it on for the first time. It's everything I ever dreamed.

Styling Notes

I originally got a long straight red wig for my mermaid Ariel cosplay and figured it made the most sense to use the same one except I wanted a ponytail because it always looked to me like Ariel had a ponytail in this dress and that's how her hair is in the ride. The first time I didn't have time to do the ponytail and the second time I wore it the ponytail was so thin that I looked bald with it behind me so when I rewore it again I sewed my old Black Widow wig to a hair clip and attached that to the back of the wig. It ended up looking exactly like her hair in the ride and I love it. The bangs are just combed over to the side and teased a bit. I'm planning on redoing this wig in the future.
