About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Made using stretch materials for suit, and peachskin for cape. All completely patterned by me =)
- Personal Thoughts:
- Since I tend to hoard fabric, while packing for Anaheim, I noticed I had a good unused yard of sparkly red spandex leftover from Elastigirl and Space Faerie. At first I was thinking Jessica Rabbit swimsuit, but when I tried to picture it with the gloves (in the movie there is a photo of her at the beach, and she is actually wearing gloves) I thought it looked too super hero-ish to me.

rnBut then that sparked another idea- why not use it to make a super hero Jessica Rabbit? My initial inspiration was Miss Marvel's leotard silhouette, but naturally, as I thought about the design more, Power Girl's outfit was the PERFECT inspiration for a super hero Jessica Rabbit. Power Girl is my inspiration for the look of the outfit, but it's important to note it's more of a reference and parody, not really a crossover. They don't have much to do with each other other than being... well-endowed. XD

rnI struggled with what color to make the cape at first, but drew on the idea of blue, which is the color of the curtain Jessica walks out of in the movie. However, darker blues seemed to really flatten the look, but this purplish blue peachskin I had on hand really complimented the red and purple well, and is literally complimentary to the orange wig. ;D

rnI reused my sparkly Elastigirl boots, which is PERFECT, and angled the belt a little bit to flatter my shape better. Outfit is still in progress, but it's only a few steps away from being done! I hope to take this to SDCC or D23 in 2015!
