About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Shirt, bias tape, armbands, waist band, belt buckle, white fur, blue lap cover, boots, and straps all recycled from existing owned materials. rnrnThe shirt is made of non stretch cotton (this may change in the future as it wasn't as form fitting as I wanted), with the white bias added on with the stitch in the ditch method. Belt buckle is made of worbla covered craft foam just like my jacket for a previous version of Korra. rnrnWhite fur is leftover from Korra's jacket as well, and the brown wrap has an interesting swirly design on it, which seems to fit Korra's waterbender heritage. rnrnThis costume is immensely comfortable and surprisingly warm, and allows me to have flexibility of movement and comfort. HOpefully I can get a full Season 4 group!
- Personal Thoughts:
- Made this for the Norcal Fall/Winter gathering in 5 days and this was my first time making pants!! I recycled the boots from an old pair of slouchy boots, reused fabric I already had for the shirt, white bias tape, armbands, fur, and only bought brown fabric for the buttcape and fleece for the pants. Also bought the wig off of eBay for $10 but it's not great and I'd like to get a different wig.
Total cost for this costume, maybe $40? Time spent: 40 hours? It was on and off during 5 days as I quickly made pieces.
Seeing Korra with a bob cut was quite a shock, and it' feels weird to have such a short wig since I'm used to the delicate ponytail and "hair loopies" on the side but it makes transporting this costume so much easier!
