About this Costume

The main green fabric is cotton sateen. I really wanted to tie the outfit in with Syaoran's heritage, so I went for Chinese brocade for the yellow parts. I used orange satin ribbon for all the trim, mostly hand stitched on. The belt is some shantung that I was fortunate enough to find in a scrap bin in some fabric store. The circles on the front and back of his tunic are all appliqued on. Super proud of how those came out considering it was my first time satin stitch anything. For his shoes, I fabric painted some flats from Payless. I actually did not make the white pantsuit underneath. I bought one from ebay to save myself some time to work on my other costumes. The hat (lolol) process was made up as I went along as it was my first time making a hat. It's literally craft foam, poster board, and duct tape, covered in the green and gold fabric from the costume. The two orbs on the sides are made from a clear Christmas ornament that can be opened for DIY decorations. The inside was painted black, stuffed with styrofoam, then hot glued onto the hat. My sword was commissioned by chergnomebyl props, who I found through cosplay.com :)
- Personal Thoughts:
- Baby's first CLAMP cosplay. If you asked me to make this maybe like 4 or 5 years ago, I would have gawked at you with a look of absolute dread because 'REALLY?? You want me to make..THAT?? But it's so detailed. Where do I even fucking start. HOW??????' I guess I consider this one of my stepping stones to pushing forward and attempting more detail oriented outfits, especially now that I know that I actually CAN pull it off. There are some things that can be improved upon, but I'm still super proud of this one c:
