About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I spent a long time patterning the jacket, particularly because of the sleeves. The caps of the sleeves are drawn kind of poofy, but I struggled to get "poof" without blatant ruffles/darts that I didn't want. The result has a bit of shape, but sadly isn't very obvious depending on the angle. Overall I think I could have done a better job on the jacket.rnrnThe pants were also... interesting to pattern out. It's a delicate balance between poofy and too-much-poofy. Aviator pants look cool, but are silly to make! The design has a line that cuts up along the leg-- I used that as an opportunity to use piping to create that line and add support to the poof at the thighs, and that helped keep its shape.rnrnThe remaining points are all details, which I'm too lazy to go into.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Dominic was my first crossplay many years ago, in 2008-- it was my 4th or 5th costume ever. And at the time I was super proud of it. Now is the 10th year I've been cosplaying, and I've always wanted to remake this costume, so now seemed like the perfect time. Its fun to compare and see how much I've progress over the years. This time around, Bluucircles joined me as Anemone! It's something we've wanted to do together for a while now. Dominic and Anemone are so cute together! After rewatching E7 after many years, I'm reminded just how great this show is and why it deserves way more love than it gets! I'm hoping to cosplay a few more characters from the series now!

- Styling Notes
- The duck-butt hair styling was a challenge. I first took the shoulder-length wig and heat-treated it twice, letting it dry tilted backwards, so that the fibers would being to naturally point backwards. That jump-started the lift in the back. Then came some light trimming and a decent amount of styling with gel and freeze air spray to put the style in place.
