About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I messed up the construction on this big time and should have gone a size up. Or maybe I should have just worn a compression vest. I had a hard time with the bodice having enough fabric in the back for a zipper. I ended up needing to take an extra strip of fabric to make it fit.rnrnI forget precisely what kind of fabric these were made out of, but they were entirely if not all cotton. We couldn't find the right colors all in the same fabric, so I suggested dyeing it. It was my first time using the washing machine method (as my previous experiences dyeing fabric were with individual pieces of clothing that could fit into a small tub and gradient dyeing in my Heisuke costume), and I probably wouldn't do that again. I'd just use a bathtub. The dye was a bit splotchy and uneven but fortunately didn't show up in photos.rnrnWe all used the same pattern, but it looks like our pleats in the dress's lower half didn't turn out as well as the picture indicated they should. Oh well. This was a one-time only occasion for our last Halloween in college.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I had forgotten about this until I was working on article about making costumes for Halloween! This was for Halloween in 2012.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I shook it around a bit and pushed the bangs to the sides. Very, very minimal styling.
