About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The smock and kirtle are made of linen, and the overgown is made of silk taffeta and lined with a kona cotton. The neckline bead work is on the kirtle, which is historically accurate, but also made it more difficult because everything had to line up perfectly in order for it to be seen. The hat was incredibly tedious to make. It is made out of an embroidery canvas base, wired like crazy, and all hand sewn.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Considering how much fabric is in these dresses, choosing silk taffeta for the overgown was definitely a good choice. It made the dress more lightweight.
