About this Costume
Construction Details:
After seeing Disney's "John Carter" movie, I was absolutely hooked on making this dress (designed by Mayes C. Rubeo, worn by Lynn Collins). This was probably the most extensively draped/flat drafted costume I've made yet. I was actually beading and rhinestoning at the convention because there was just so much to put onto the dress!

The dress itself is 5 yards of a really pretty gold foil cream satin and is the closest thing I could even find to the actual fabric (which is a sort of gold woven lame). Every piece was flat drafted or draped - no patterns used at all except for the underpants. The shoulder straps are completely hand beaded using bicone beads and amber colored crystals. I resin casted all the dress, bracelet, crown, and necklace filigree pieces and pieced them all together with chains and hand cut jump rings to match the dimensions of Dejah's costume pieces. The crown is made of wire that I beaded and adorned with chains and rhinestoned pieces. The body tattoos took around 5 hours to complete and is a combination of water-slide tattoos and hand drawn ink.

Making and wearing this was such a dream come true!! I had a wonderful time at DragonCon and had such a great reception in Atlanta :)
Personal Thoughts:
Probably the most ambitious flat drafted/draped project I've made to date. And the most resin casting I've done for a single costume.
