About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The skirt, shirt and beret were completely self-patterned and made from scratch out of black and white sateen and black bias tape. The tie was made out of a red fabric Vikki had purchased and trimmed with black bias. rnrnThe star staff was crafted primarily out of a wooden dowel and paperclay, with cardboard and foam core hot glued to the base for molding structure. The star itself was crafted out of thin cardboard and covered in gold sparkly paper. The whole thing was sanded, primed and painted with pink and gold acrylic paint, then sealed with mod podge. The top red gems were resin cast, the bottom red cap was painted with red nail polish. The wings are white craft foam. It took me about a week to construct; I don't consider myself a prop person, so I'm actually very pleased with how it turned out!
- Personal Thoughts:
- I sure wouldn't have picked to cosplay little miss 10 year-old magical loli girl on my own watch, but surprising Vikki to cosplay with her flawless Syaoran was totally worth it~
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- Cut and layered the back to her proper length, and trimmed up the bangs. I added her distinctive poof up top by heat-teasing the hair straight up at the base with a touch of spray, and when I let the hair fall it created just the shape I was going for. After the poof was added, I cut the front parts to about chin length, leaving a thin wisp on each side the original length.
- Wig Review
- Ardas are some of my favorite wigs to work with, and Sakura was a really fun but simple project. I enjoyed working on this wig a lot, and though there are a few things I'd like to touch up I'm quite pleased with it
