About this Costume
Construction Details:
Everything on this was actually pretty easy to sew! The only difficult things to sew were the gloves, as I actually used a glove pattern for the first time ever. For everything brown, I lucked out and found a stretch fabric that had an embossed bark-pattern on it. Barely visible, but I did paint on top of the pattern to give some variation in the color. The rings are all curtain-rings I found on clearance and I painted over them and weathered them individually with acrylic paint. The yellow cording was originally white. Interfacing was used in the "Kermit Collar", sleeves, shorts, gauntlets, and hat. I painted accents onto everything green so it would match the orange. The shoes are basically big ol' carrot-shaped tubes with foam inside and then bent and sewn into the right shape.
The mask is a worbla-casting of the mask that Pork Buns made me. This was for safety reasons, mainly. The mask is suspended from underneath the hat so I can flip it up easily to see and speak.
Personal Thoughts:
Before I even started cosplaying, I knew I wanted to make Skull Kid someday. So this, I'd say for certain, is one of my dream costumes and I'm thrilled to have finally completed it! Mucho thanks to Pork Buns for making the GORGEOUS Majora's Mask for me, because I suck at masks and she does not.
