About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I basically followed a lot of the tutorials that are readily available online and altered things where needed to match the reference that I was working from. The blue, red, and white satin's are all from the Casa collection and I also used white cotton lyrca and gold metallic spandex for other portions of the costume.
The skit is two layers - a cotton "petti" with custom lace/ribbon trim and horsehair braid in the hem and then a blue satin skirt overlaying that. The majority of the accessories were made with Worbla scraps including the odango shields, tiara, locket, and chest "armor" V. The mask is made from craft foam covered in the same white satin as the cape, but I'm not 100% happy with the shape, so I'll probably tweak it some before I wear it again. Everything attaches with snaps (so many snaps). - Personal Thoughts:
- Sailor Moon was my first anime ever (though this was before I knew was "anime" was). I remember waking up extra early to watch reruns of the DiC dub on TV before going to school in the morning when I was younger. I figured since I've been doing cosplay for about 10 years, it was time to pay homage to one of the first shows to get me into anime.
Wig Details
- Wig Review
- The fibers are soft and thick, as I've come to expect from Arda, but the wig was also huge and had to be resized, as I've also unfortunately come to expect from Arda.
