About this Costume
Construction Details:
From the bottom up-
Shoes were ordered from Bodyline and red ribbon was added to the back.
Socks were bought and then had ribbon sewn on.
Skirt/Bloomers- The bloomers were fairly simple aside from a misshap with the crotch. Petticoat is 13 layers following RuffleButt Cosplay's tutorial. The Petti is too heavy to be manage with just elastic and snaps were hand sewn on to attach onto the skirt. The skirt is a circle skirt gathered at the top and bottom, with the petal skirt being drafted from strategically (more like haphazardly taped...) petal shaped pieces of paper being draped and taped into a pattern.
The top is a three layer bodice, then added sleeves and fastened shut with heavy duty snaps that were painted pink.
Soul gem was made by my Homura, who cast and resined the gem with a pink LED light. The battery is hidden in my top, unfortunately there's nothing I can do about the wire showing, but my top ruffles tend to hide more of the wire.
Personal Thoughts:
Madoka is a character that I fell for the design of before I watched the series. Not really knowing what the show was about, I ended up marathoning it...twice. And then a third in english. Madoka is kind of one of those characters that gets a bad wrap for being whiny, but honestly? She's pretty realistic in her thinking.
Madoka was a hard costume simply because she took SO MUCH TIME. The petti is MASSIVE and I felt like I was smothering my poor machine cramming so much fabric under the foot. Poor baby.
