About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I worked on this from October 2013 to August 2014.
The robe is made of recycled vintage kimono fabric, with some silk charmeuse for the collar and hem. Everything had to be sewn by hand due to the delicacy of the fabrics. The white outlines are couched satin cord. Juban is linen with cotton prints for the collars. Hakama is linen, head scarf is cotton voile dyed to match the color of my lipstick and nailpolish.
I only wore this costume for judging + walk-ons, and the only pictures I have are from when I was waiting in line, so there aren't any where I'm wearing the box, but I made it! It's made primarily of 1/8" plywood with Sintra for hardware. - Personal Thoughts:
- This was my second time cosplaying as the Medicine Seller! The first one was a rush job that in no way did the character justice, so I went a little overboard with the second one...
