About this Costume
Construction Details:
Special thanks to IchigoKitty for sharing her costume specs and fabric choices with me and JuuJuu. The white matte spandex is from SpandexWorld (New York) and the blue spandex is from the LA Fashion District. The difficulty of this costume is set to Hard since I was not used to sewing stretch fabric. Using the stretch stitch definitely takes a lot of patience and uses up a lot of thread. I modified a t-shirt pattern for the top, and I used a swimsuit bikini bottom pattern. All the white stripes on the blue trims and collar are spandex in 0.7mm and 0.5inch. Since we didn't use any zipper fasteners for this costume, everything had to stretch to fit over our head or over our hips. The collar is separate from the top and connects at the mid-point with two safety pins. The side hip bows are made of craft foam covered with blue spandex with garter trim. They were then hand sewn together and attached to the bikini bottoms with a big safty pin hand sewn to the back of each bow.
Personal Thoughts:
When the first DLC came out for IDOLM@STER 2 on PS3, I was super excited for this outfit! That was back in October 2011 and at that time I was making other IM@S outfits with Angel Hearts such as Meruhen Maid and Street Hopper. The idea of doing these costumes was pushed back until I posted a picture of an inflatable dolphin toy on Twitter. My girl JuuJuu mentioned that the dolphin prop would be perfect for Sailor Mizugi outfits. We were both planning to attend Dragon Con 2014, and since I don't travel to the East Coast that often, we planned to make these outfits for the summer of 2014.
