About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Bodice:
I used a deep blue stretch satin for the bodice. The white portions are white vinyl (I had on hand already.) The top part is appliquéd on. The blue started bleeding through to the white, but created a really nice effect. The bodice is lined and has a boning structure in it. The peplum bottom is white vinyl and lined with an ice blue satin. The back has an invisible zipper in it. The jewel on the front is one I found at Michaels.
Belt:
The belt is made from light blue PVC. It has some boning strips in the lining to prevent buckling. It laces in the back.
Leggings:
I used the same stretch satin from the bodice for the leggings. It has a small invisible zipper in the back and an elastic waist.
Cape:
I used an over layer of ice blue organza and the under layer is a dusty blue chiffon. It’s cut as a square and hemmed. The drape creates a jagged look rather than going with a pointed tip bottom. The collar is made of the same blue satin from the bodice and leggings. It buttons on in the back.
Boots and Gauntlets:
The boot covers are the white vinyl from the bodice appliqué and peplum. The upper portion is lined with ice blue satin. There is a zipper up the back to fit a pup style shoe in easily. These things were a real pain to make and I have no idea why I chose to use vinyl for thigh high boots (to keep it coordinated with the rest of the outfit I suppose!)
The gauntlets are the same vinyl and lined with the blue. I use a pair of white satin gloves with the gauntlets.
Wig:
The wig is an epic Cosplay wig, Hera to be exact in color Ice Blue. I gently combed the curls out to create more of a wavy style. I cut the bangs so they would fall right at my eyebrows. This is the first time I have added no volume to the fringe in any of my wigs. Despite the fact Frosta is a character of the 80's she had flat bangs…so I stayed true to the design.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I made this costume on a whim when I went on a She-Ra kick a couple years ago. I was a huge fan of She-Ra as a child. I did love She-Ra herself, but I also loved Frosta. I usually hate winter and anything cold related, but for some reason this character still remains one of my favorites from the series.
I found a really nice stretch blue satin that was on sale and knew it would be perfect for the main base of the suit. That was enough for me to be inspired to make this costume.
