About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I went with the comic book style so the hardest part was finding the right color fabric. The shirts and skirts were easy enough to sew.The tights were the hard part. The stitching made them so much smaller than they were originally as just tights. The wings are made of two layers of worbla with laminated tissue paper.Hay Lin's wig was a lace front from Arda that I then added hair to lace for Hay Lin's unique hairline. I split whole long weft pack and attached them to the back. I covered the pony tails with hairnet in hopes they would stay in one piece and wouldn't get to tangled.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I was asked to do Hay Lin and Irma for a group. They were really at the bottom of my bucket list of cosplays but when I got approached to do them I was super excited. And so was my sister who was an even bigger fan of the series than I was. This was the first time wearing wings and deadly ones at that! (so pointy!) Thankfully we weren't down on the con floor for very long and we didn't take anybody's eyes out. I wasn't exactly in the best shape for this. But I still felt good because I knew if I had good posture I would look ok.I think if my teacher hadn't let me work on this in class that I wouldn't have had time for Evil-Lyn! And the few people who recognized us were super duper excited which was really nice.
