Top and Skirt:
The main fabric was semi stretch sateen in a royal blue. I found this stuff on sale for $5/meter and bought a meter and a half. This stuff is awesome to work with, minimal fraying and it presses out super well. The pink portions of the skirt are a dull pink stretch satin. The white parts are a thicker white jersey knit. The pink on the top was stretch knit in the exact shade of pink the satin was. I was lucky enough to have both pink fabrics and the white already in my fabric storage.
The skirt was cut out with no pattern. I just cut and sewed and it all came together. There are no zippers in this. The stretch is enough to slip on and off over the hips.
The top was a self drafted pattern using the same design the character was wearing. The straps are criss crossed in the back and white top stitching was used to create the white lines. The blue stitching along the pink back portion is just a blue spandex strip weaved through with a needle.
The logo on the front was painted on a piece of the sateen and satin stitched around the edge, and then sewn onto the front.
Stockings and Leg Warmers
The stockings were made with same white ribbed knit. The uppers were made of blue lycra, custom dyes to match the sateen in the top and skirt. The lettering is felt carefully cut out and topstitched onto the sides.
The leg warmers were made of red knit. I would like to find a pair of actual leg warmers, but red seems to be hard to find O_o
The leg warmers are red fabric sewn into a tube and have elastic encased in the upper edge.
Accessories
The wristband is a black sweatband with two stripes of elastic sewn around the both edges. The pink watch is one I found at Wal-Mart for $5.
The hair scrunchies were made with pink knit and white piping in the sewn edge. I stuffed them with some batting to fluff them out a bit like the game art.
The belt is just a red leather belt with double layer eyelets in it.
I also have a pink lollipop I carry around with this.
Chainsaw:
This is coming soon! I will have written up details on how I made this as soon as it’s 100% complete!
Nick’s Head:
His head started off as a make Styrofoam head from Arda wigs. I layered it with some Gesso and put a multitude of flesh tone paint on it. I added various watered down paints to create depth to his face. For some strange reason Nick’s face seems to always have his eyes to the side…soooo that’s how I painted them on!
I bought a Greasers wig from a Halloween store and styled it up a bit. I think I may go back and trim it a little.
The bottom part is made of foam wrapped around the base with a silver metallic vinyl strip around the foam.
The tie was some scrap navy and red satin sewn into a tie shade. I made a harness behind the head with some leather scraps. It hooks onto my belt.
Wig:
The wig is Arda’s Chibi in Platinum Blonde. I set the pigtails up a little higher and teased the mother out of them to create that messy volume Juliet has.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I have to admit, before this game came out I was quite skeptical of it. I honestly didn’t know what to expect from it and I initially had no interest in playing it. The game was released around my birthday and my sister surprised me with the game as a gift…so I played it and ended up loving it!
The game played like a classic arcade game that wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously and it was just great for loads of fun.
I really like Juliet’s character (I liked Nick more though!) I personally feel I would make a better Cordelia, but for now I have the Juliet costume.
