About this Costume
Construction Details:
I doodled a design I thought would be cute, but possibly warm for a shoot at the Ice Castles. I ended up not having the proper petticoat in time or a good white undershirt, but it was originally suppose to have those two things instead of a purple petticoat and black undershirt.

I used a tutorial from Youtube for making an easy yukata or kimono, but I didn't have the fabric length to do it exactly the way the video suggested. So it was basically the same pattern at the Youtube video, but with the sleeves separate and sewed on. After the main body was all sewed together, I grabbed some scrap fur fabric and hand sewed it along the hems.

The cincher thing on the waist was pretty simple since it's just a long rectangle with interfacing in it. I put in some eyelets in the back with lace. The designs and other colors were sewn over the main part of the fabric. The frills were hand made and the round beads hot glued near the edges.

I used some tights I got from the mall one day, then got a pair of cute fuzzy boots off eBay. I had some snowflake Christmas ornaments that I hand sewed to the front of the boots, but they aren't very visible since they're clear.

The ears were eyeballed as far as patterning goes, then I fed some wire into them along with polyfil and hot glued them shut at the base with wires still sticking out. The wires feed into the wig and wrap up in a somehow organized mess inside. The tips of the wires were hot glued in hopes I would not be poked or hurt. They take some adjusting to not look crooked, but they stay up very well with just wire.

The wig was a long blue, wavy wig from eBay. I trimmed up the bangs, but apparently not enough since it still kept getting in my eyes. The hair in the front was sharpie dyed with some light blue sharpies. At the very tips, I directly colored darker blue sharpie on. It's rather subtle, sadly.

Personal Thoughts:
Really happy with the cuteness of this costume. c: It's pretty darn comfy too. The boots are definitely not for wearing in the snow, though.
