Construction Details:

BIAS. TAPE. HELL. This costume features three widths of custom-made bias tape for a grand total of nearly 12 yards, and is stuffed with (depending on where it went) either upholstery cording or a small amount of batting. Because I seem to hate myself, the white is a mystery fabric I got at a warehouse store, the blue is ponte knit (WHAT), and the gold on both the bias tape and the appliqué is upholstery crepe satin. It's one of my heaviest costumes, weighing in at 8 pounds WITHOUT the chains. Luckily it's incredibly comfortable! I'm actually really glad I didn't try this 8 years ago. I wouldn't have done a job I'm happy with now.

Personal Thoughts:

I’ve wanted to make this costume for nine years now; it was originally going to be in a group with a friend who no longer cosplays and who lives very far from me now. What with the current surge in popularity with the end of the hiatus, and watching an absurd amount of the 2011 anime, I decided 2014 would be the year I went for it.
