About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Figuring out how to construct this costume was a little complicated. It couldn't follow a regular yukata design because of how full the skirt is, and I really wanted it to be huge and fluffy. So instead, I made the "dress" in two pieces: a yukata-style top that goes to my waist, and a circle skirt bottom that the top tucks into. The skirt is two layers: a white ruffle-trimmed under layer, and a green outer layer. The obi belt is reinforced with sturdy interfacing to hold its shape and velcros into place. The big bow on the back is then pinned into place on top to hide it's "seam". I used a petticoat made for square dancing, because they are HUGE and make your skirts really big and puffy.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I feel so fluffy wearing this costume!
