Construction Details:

The pink dress is made of a stretch cotton poly blend lined in itself. The front seams are boned in Rigilene. My original plan was to have non-functional buttons and just install an invisible separating zipper in the front, but since the dress wanted to pull apart I was forced to put in real buttonholes. Darnit!

The body of the jacket was made from the same pattern as my Attack on Titan jacket (yay for reusing patterns!) and has lots of topstitching detail. Since my FFVII group decided to try to be most accurate to the original game designs, I had to figure out how to do those crazy sleeves. Each sleeve is 3 highly curved pieces, and luckily only one medium-weight layer of interfacing was necessary to get them to stick out like that.

The armor pieces are craft foam with silver fabric glued/cemented on. I wouldn't mind remaking those in the future, as mine didn't turn out quite as nicely as I was hoping.

Personal Thoughts:

I remember getting this game shortly after it came out and wandering around thrift stores attempting to put an Aeris costume together for Halloween. Well, it only took 15 or so years and lots of sewing projects beforehand to finally get around to cosplaying her!

Styling Notes

What I thought was going to be a nightmare turned out to be surprisingly easy! I think the key to getting good height with the bangs was backcombing. I also used plenty of heat and hair spray! Since Jeannie has a detachable ponytail, styling the two-strand braid was a breeze once I read up on how to twist it properly.

Wig Review

This is a great wig for Aeris, both color and style wise. However, the comb in the front of the wig is not quite enough to keep the wig from wanting to come off your head, even with liberal use of pins. I think I'll be removing the comb and sewing in one or two toupee clips instead.
