Construction Details:

i think this is the first costume i made entirely without a commercial pattern…! i’m actually really happy with how it turned out haha

the top and the bottom are both made out of white bridal satin. the top was pretty simple, i used a strapless bikini top to make a one-piece seamless pattern, put in darts to accommodate boobs, added the bottom band. i couldn’t find a zipper that would work for this kind of top so i put in grommets and had it lace up the back! added the halter neck piece thing which was made out of gold PVC and glued feathers to the edges.

the skirt took a lot longer and wasn’t difficult just… really time-consuming.. it’s 4 full circle skirts (8 halves) sewn together and gathered with an added waistband/zipper. underneath is about 5 yards of tulle gathered fully. then i took a bunch of white taffeta and used the wrong side (taffeta gathers really well but the right side is too shiny for my tastes), cut it into strips, did a double fold hem to prevent fraying, and made a million ruffles using this method and sewed them into one continuous ruffle which i sewed to the tulle. because the tulle is gathered this created the appearance of several layers of ruffles and made the skirt extremely poofy! her skirt has a ton of volume and i wanted to replicate that. the top skirt was hemmed using a rolled hem foot which works quite well for circular hems!

the arm and leg straps were made out of gold PVC and hot glued into tubes the morning of the con lmao but i would actually recommend the hot glue method over sewing because then you don’t have to spend forever turning tubes the right side out, so it’s a lot faster. after i hot glued the tubes, i ironed them to make the glue spread out. the hand things are just.. triangles.. attached to more tubes for the bracelet and ring. you could probably use real bracelets for these but i wanted the arm bands to match the leg straps so i used the same fabric.

the wig is just one of those curly wigs that come in 25 different colors on ebay. yoomster did some layering and cut the bangs which gives it a look more similar to panty’s hair!

the hearts were made using this tutorial and spray painted in a hotel bathroom with EXTREME caution please don’t do that. they’re literally just hot glued to the costume but they’ve stayed on really well!
