About this Costume
Personal Thoughts:
Homura yukata

Costume pieces:

Yukata, geta, obi, obi bow, wig, contacts, hairband, cotton candy

Yukata: I did not make it, but considered fabric painting the design on, but instead I found a yukata off of Rakuten with the same design and with the help of an old schoolfriend who speaks and writes fluent Japanese I was able to communicate with the store and buy it from Rakuten. Honestly though, never again…the communication was confusing and super hard without a translator. The yukata was beautiful and comfortable, and I loved wearing it, totally need to wear it again as a casual costume!

My beautiful Madoka, Jessica hand painted all the details on her Maiko Madoka kimono with help from friends, and just look at how beautiful it all is!

Turns out the yukata, obi, obi bow, and get all came together in one package, which cost about $120 total with shipping.

I really don't know how to put Yukata on properly so I had to remember tutorials and I think it turned out okay, but I do need more padding around the waist next time it's worn.

I did wear an inner kimono, the fake kimono I wore with my Fuu costume.

The wig was purchased from Aliexpress here: and it's like, the perfect blend of grey/black/blue for Homura, plus it's seriously as thick as 2 wigs. It needs more heat straightening and more bang styling.

Hairband: I redid my Homura hairband out of a Target black 3-pack of hairbands, with gems painted black from the LA Fashion District. The stones are oval just like Homura's hairbands so I'm proud of it :3

Contacts: the purple contacts I use for Homura now are the Puffy 3-Tone purple purchased from Thedollyeye.com

Cotton candy: Trevor made me the cotton candy out of a wooden dowel with bubblewrap taped around it, and cotton batting glued down, spray painted pink.
