WOOOOO!! NICE VINYL!
Pattern is a modified Simplicity coat pattern that I added seams to and tweaked a bit. I bought a butt-ton of nice red vinyl that was on clearance, so I scooped some up and hoarded it away.
Pants were a nice super cheap eBay find. Much better than my previous shitty black Hot Topic jeans.
Boots are still not where I want them to be. Ebay'd and modded. I would much rather have a chunky base, but as it is no longer the 90's, shit is hard to find. Work in progress.
Cuff is a WONDERFUL piece that a friend 3D printed for me (he also is making the base of the bass for me but that shit takes time I ain't got) All I had to do was primer fill the fuck out of it and then paint it. It's a tight fit, but PERFECT otherwise!
Gloves are a pair of gaunlet gloves found on eBay that were originally white. I dyed them by using Rit's dye mixing recipes. The color come out way lighter than I thought they would be, but since all the art is not consistant, I picked what would be close-ish.
Goggles are from an army surplus store. They are the only original piece from my previous costume. :D
- Personal Thoughts:
- So...I am in love with FLCL...and GAINAX...and I'm just a total mess.
This is the second time I've done this cosplay. The first time was in 2007 and it was GODAWFUL. Like, eBay coat that I thought was going to be pleather but ended up being shitty poly poplin. The rest was store bought poo, the gloves were made and the cuff was foam that I had spray painted...before I was aware that foam had to be sealed before painting. (THAT WAS A MESS!!)
The guitar was some $40 piece of crap from eBay as well, but it was all I could do at the time.
First go was terribad like WOAH.
But then my husband found a '63 Vespa SuperSport and restored it as an anniversary gift.
So, I was kinda forced to remake the entire costume.
Jerk. :|
ANYWAY, I redid her and she's not done yet (no guitar yet! BOO!) Either way, I spent forever on the coat and wanted photos like NOW. So, I'll just have to do a full on scooter/guitar shoot later!
