Construction Details:

I originally had really big plans for this cosplay, but more than a year passed since I even started working on it and I cut a lot of corners to make her. Bodysuit is black and red metallic spandex. Mask is the same spandex covering craft foam. Gloves are... gloves sewn to the craft foam gauntlets, which are covered in the red metallic spandex. Batwoman has these details on her gloves (kinda like motorcycle gloves), I painted that shit on with acrylic (I freehanded it too, really ghetto but at least the details are there?) The boots are my favorite part, because I was really picky about the way they looked. The boots she wears have a thick heel, but they aren't really high heels, with a slight platform? Rounded toe. Combat boot-y? Well, to me they have a really particular look that I thought was kind of important, so I spent ages searching ebay for something that would work. I found these 25 dollar black suede over the knee boots, cut them, covered them with gesso and then covered them in like 3 layers of leather paint. That I also happened to pour all over my carpet. It looks like I murdered someone. -_- They are fucking HARD to put on because they don't have a zipper. They were easy to get on before I painted them (suede is stretchy) but after I painted them, the stretch is minimal. The cape is satin. The black satin isn't... quite black? Almost like a very very dark brown? I didn't realize this until it was too late. This is an area that I cut corners on, I originally was going to make a 7 paneled cape, but then I had an overwhelming feeling of laziness and decided to just cut one panel for each side. It almost touched the ground this way so it turned out longer than I expected. I think it turned out perfect this way. The belt is craft foam with metallic spandex. I think that's it? I did this in about a week.

nHINDSIGHT 1 YEAR LATER: idk this is still one of my cosplays I am most proud of. I think it would look pretty cool made out of PATENT VINYL THOUGH. But I don't think I'll remake it. I need to redo the gloves though, they are literally beat to death.

Personal Thoughts:

Batwoman was the second New 52 title I got into after Wonder Woman. She's just so badass! I decided to cosplay her right when I got into cosplay (Fall 2013, I bought the wig at Sabo 2013, as a way to try to "push" myself to do it faster...) But she just kept getting placed on the backburner. Most of the black metallic spandex I bought for her, I used on my LF Ryuko cosplay instead.
