Oh my God, this costume was so stupid to make. Almost all of the fabric parts of this costume were made from white, black, or brown sateen with grey, pink, or hot pink bias tape. The vest thing was impossible but I eventually figured it out. The same jade beads are on the choker and neckline of the vest. I strung a red tassel cord around all of them and glued it in place. The straps are just tubes of black vinyl.
As for the arm warmer glove things and boot covers, A Lot of Pink Bias Tape was Involved in the Creation of this Costume. I need to figure out a better way to make the boots lace. I'm seriously considering just installing eyelets and using pink shoelaces because at the very least it would look better than it does now. I kept using up all my fashion tape trying to get them to stay up. The elbow pads are interfaced with craft foam and have upholestery tassels sewn to them. The gloves aren't attached, I just wore black gloves along with them. The wrist armor are a thick white foam painted white with hot pink bias tape woven in, and they attach with velcro.
I sprayed the top parts of the wig with a brown sharpie spray, which is just subtle enough but I worry it doesn't show up in some photos, so I may go at it again or get a brown wig and sew the wefts in on top - Personal Thoughts:
- I WILL ADMIT IT--I have never actually played Tales of Xillia. I'm a fake geek girl. I'm so sorry. I never meant for you to find out this way. Well, actually, I made this costume to cosplay with my twin SpPandaaa because we do that sometimes. She'll make a costume to wear with me regardless of her interest and then I'll do the same for her. She did Homestuck for me, that is the greatest sacrifice a friend could make. And thus I descended into bias tape hell. She'd been encouraging me to do Tales cosplays with her for a while, but I saw Milla's design and was really taken with it. And thus this cosplay happened! I definitely DO plan on playing the game now that I have a PS3 (and have seen a bit of a playthrough) but I'm not sure I knew enough about the game just then to have a full impression of Milla as a character. This was a lot of fun! Except for all the fashion tape holding this together.
