About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I kind of threw the actual movie design to the wind and did things my way (at least in terms of fabric choices) because I thought it looked stupid when I blew up a high-res image. The catsuit is made from 4-way stretch matte vinyl and lined with milliskin spandex. The weird underarm and knee seams were not fun, but I got them down. The trim/lines are custom bias tape made from the same matte vinyl. The SHIELD patches were made by Ellome. The boot covers (not pictured yet since they wouldn't stick to the shoes in the con crunch, I just wore regular black boots to ALA) are black pleather with some bought strapping sewn on in places. The logo belt and holster belts/garters are all made from the same matte vinyl, and I bought some strapping from Joann for the utility belt. The buckles are all cast from resin and painted, and so are the widow's bites. I drilled holes in the bites and put cord through them so they would stretch. The deerskin gloves were bought on eBay, as were the holsters, and the guns were bought on Amazon.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I AM SO HAPPY WITH HOW THIS COSTUME TURNED OUT--I was super uncomfortable previously at the prospect of making it because the idea of cosplaying as a character portrayed by an actress pretty much universally accepted as the sexiest woman on the planet is ridiculously intimidating. BUT I DID A LOT OF SQUATS and I looked pretty good in it. I'm very pleased with myself.
This costume was full of firsts for me because I had never made a catsuit, sewn with vinyl, or done moldmaking before--in the past I've only cast jewels out of resin and used pre-made molds for them. It was complicated and intimidating, but it got done and I am very proud of myself.

- Styling Notes
- It was pretty nice out of the bag. I might work on it some more, but I just flipped the bangs to the side and teased them a little on the underside and sprayed them very slightly.
