Construction Details:

For LSP, I wanted to have something that was "spacey" on her dress, so we decided to do a layer of the casa organza with the glitter and beads on over the purple, which is the color of LSP's body. I used a cocktail party pattern to construct the dress, so the purple ends up acting almost like a liner on top, but is a separate skirt on the bottom. The black layer of the skirt is a bubble hem. I hemmed it normally first, and then did the bubble part by panels in the dress. I set my machine to a long stitch, added reeeeally long thread tails when I started and finished sewing around the edges. Then I pulled on the tails of the thread to get the bunched hem, and when I got it where I wanted it, I sewed on top of the lines I made before to keep it in place. The dress zips up in the back with an invisible zipper. The sash in the middle is made of just two long strips of costume satin (I figured I could get away with it since it's small, and it worked!) sewed together and ties in the back to cinch the waist of the dress. Probably going to add ribbon halter straps in the same color to help keep the dress up in the future. I think Sam said her heels were from Payless.

OH MY GLOB, DRAMA BOMB! I hate making bubble skirts with a burning passion, but it came out so cute!!
