About this Costume
Construction Details:
I wanted to create a look that still kept Mami's look at its heart. So I kept a lot of the basic construction elements the same. I made some changes to allow for a Valkyrie theme (more period looking blouse, leather and chainmail, feathers, different shoes), but otherwise tried to keep the same aesthetic. The weapons are made from PVC pipe and craft foam. It was my first time making weapons, so I'll likely always be tweaking them somewhat.

All in all, this wasn't a difficult costume, constructing it was just tedious at points.
Personal Thoughts:
This was...an interesting costume to pull together. I got the idea for it from an article talking about the saddest moments in the series; at the end of the article it talks about Madoka creating (essentially) Magical Girl Valhalla. My first thought was Madoka's Ultimate form as a Valkyrie, then I thought it would be better if she remained as a goddess, with her friends as her Valkyries. I started with Mami, since I like her the most and her costume was the easiest to alter.

Styling Notes
I was happy overall with this wig, as it already came with curly pigtails. Where I wasn't so happy, however, was in altering the curls so they more closely resembled Mami's. I used a mix of styling glue, max hold hairspray, and freezing spray, thenwrapped the hair around a can to get the right curl. One side took it really well, the other side was more 'meh'.
Wig Review
I always love Epic Cosplay's wigs, and this one was no exception. It's full, thick, and easy to handle. My only quibble was the curls were lopsided (maybe from packing/shipping), which was likely why one side didn't take to styling as well as the other. But I plan to restyle this wig, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
