Apparently, there are basically no sewing patterns for a 'wing-collar'/tuxedo shirt. T_______T I finally managed to find one (for ladies), and was fiiinally able to start on my project. :>
The shirt and pants I used patterns for because I'm bad at patterning them, and frankly, sewing patterns work just fine and it's less thinking. I did make an original pattern for the jacket and messed it up pretty badly, so I re-made it for Katsucon. The overcoat is also an original pattern. The art for Blackquill shows several different textures, so I used suede, satin, and brocade in the overcoat. The jacket and pants are a standard bottomweight, made to match each other, but contrast with the overcoat.
The kamon on the back of the overcoat is appliqued on with the help of WonderUnder and my machine's satin stitch. The kamon on the front are again WonderUnder, but embellished by hand.
The cuffs are made from craft foam and a plastic chain from Lowe's. The foam was stacked together with contact cement, then curved with the help of a heat gun. The chain is cut in the middle for easy separation. ^_^v Leaux filled, painted, and wet-sanded them for me because I wasn't able to get back over to work on them again in time before the convention.

- Styling Notes
- I took out some black bits from the front and added in white. This ended up too thick and too straight, and I still need to fix this problem because I'm not happy with it. I also put the white too far over. I combed out the curls and then ratted/teased them with a comb, straightening some of the end pieces and hoping it wouldn't look too curly. I tried to shape it into something that looked like his ponytail, but in the end, it's just a big mess. <_<
