Construction Details:

Used spandex for the dress. I had some trouble with the patterning- initially the sleeves were too long, and because of the flare, once they were cut out, there was no way to shorten them, I had to make whole new sleeves. I also had first put in a very straight thin center front panel, and decided I wanted more of a flare at the bottom, so I made a new panel and reinstalled it. There were some difficulties with that as well, perhaps an issue with grain line, though everything should have been cut symmetrical and on straight of grain. Not sure what happened, but other than my actual technical "glitches", the fabric is a dream to sew. So easy, and otherwise very simple. I'd like to remake it in the near future in a different fabric. I picked this gaudy sparkly spandex to stand out a bit on Halloween! I really love it, but wish it were a cooler purple. It's too close to the wig color, haha.

Personal Thoughts:

I did this as a super easy Halloween costume for 2013. The year before I had done Esmeralda, and I think, for a college party environment, it was a bit too much? I think it just went over most people's heads, haha. So I picked a compromise- something that looked like a stereotypical Halloween type of costume, but is secretly from one of my dearest childhood games!!

Wig Review

Definitely very soft and the PERFECT color for Jhudora. It's actually incredibly hard to find a good wig in this exact warm magenta purple. The fibers are perhaps a little bit "shinier" than I would like, but it still photographs well. It just looks very obviously like a wig, but the bright color also gives it away. Honestly, perfect for a Neopet character, but not so much for a trendy fashion statement. XD
