About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This dress was made from a modified Simplicity pattern using very light pink casa-satin from JoAnn's. I didn't have to do much modification although after I finished the base dress (w/o trim) I did notice that the bodice was WAYY too short. Like seriously I looked like I had jacked some 5 year old's dress and tried to wear it xD. So I had to rip it out and resew it which was a pain but I managed to finish it in time. The "ears" are made from craft foam and are attached on to a light blonde headband. The spools are just little painted wooden spools you can get at craft stores-- though I now wish I had made them out of craft foam. The shoes are actually cheap black shoes I got from Walmart; my wonderful step-dad let me use his car paint studio/thing to paint them. So yes they are painted using car paint xD. Weird I know but it worked. I know you can't see but I actually made some cute little bloomers to wear under this dress since it was a little too short for comfort. I just used a regular bloomer pattern from Simplicity and used a white crepe fabric and silk lace for the trim. Stockings were just a last minute purchase at Walmart; I plan on keeping my eyes peeled for ones without cheap lace at the top.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I'm going to start off by saying that I am not exactly a fan of Chobits; but I have read the manga and seen the anime. I just really love Chi's character designs so expect to be seeing more of Chi from me. ^^; Overall I am proud of this cosplay, but I do see that there is still much room for improvement. I did however win an honorable mention in the Hamacon cosplay contest which makes me feel a little better about the mistakes I made.

- Wig Review
- I really enjoyed this wig but I think I'm in need of a new one. This one was just so thin and now I've combed it through and treated it often with detangling spray that it has become stringy in appearance. It looked great when I got it though and I do feel I've gotten my money's worth from it, but alas it is time to move to another wig. Also, it was pretty tight and I had a hard time fitting all of my hair into it.
