About this Costume

Mask - this was a LOT of work. Not hard, just a lot haha. Base is foamie sandwiched between wonderflex, the raised edges are done with paperclay. Spikes are cardstock with the edges blended in using paperclay and then rouch spots filled out with spackle. Tried out using a different filler method this time using an automotive filler primer which worked WONDERFULLY (though this thing took the entire can). Painted with a combination of acrylics, textile acrylic, and fabric paint, and the markings at the top are 3D paint. The eyes of the mask are actually a plastic christmas ball ornament I cut in half and painted on the inside (with the intention of adding LEDs into them later :D )
Tunic - used some country classic cotton, nothing complicated to sew either. I went with a rusty pumpkin orange color as opposed to the in-game accurate bright orange since I think a more subdued color looks better IRL
Pants/collar/gloves - used leftover material from my Equalist uniform. Drafted the pattern for the collar myself out of newspaper to get a nice fit.
Hat - this I'll have to redo, but for now I used a Halloween witch's hat as a base, with a bunch of interfacing added for the "fringe" as well as the rooster bit on the top. There's a bunch of wire in there too. Used same material as tunic.
Shoes - I have never actually made boot covers before but I had read plenty about it so I had somewhat of an idea of what I was doing (but not really lol). Took some old slip-on style shoes, drew a rough pattern around them of the shape I needed, and cut that out of craft foam. Attached the craft foam to the shoes and used the same pattern to cut out pieces from my orange fabric, sewed them together, and then slipped them over. Rather pleased with how they turned out for my first time creating a shoe from scratch!
Belt/hat&shoe accents - these are actually just tiny wreathes tied together with hemp twine (thanks to Bekalou for the suggestion! - Personal Thoughts:
- I have always wanted to do a LoZ costume, though I never really saw myself pulling off Link. But I did love Skull Kid from Majora's Mask and I had been wanting an excuse to make the mask itself for a long time. And after Bekalou finished her MM Link, I just had to get Skull Kid done myself :)
