About this Costume
Construction Details:
All of the armor pieces were made out of worbla, and some parts had craft foam in them. I was concerned that I wouldn't have enough worbla, so I didn't do the whole worbla, craftfoam sandwich for the helmet or breast plates. But, I do wish I had. After I got the shapes I liked, they were covered in wood glue and sanded a bit. I accidentally poked an ugly hole in the helmet on accident and had to cover some parts with paper clay, then do as much sanding as my pathetic arms could handle. Afterward they were all spray painted. I decided not to add details since I was nervous I'd make it really ugly with my lack of painting skill.

The body suit was made from scrap and was traced from a body suit my step mom had previous made for me. I honestly can't believe I made my very first body suit fit me as snug as it did without even feeling uncomfortable. I had to double layer it since I apparently picked a very see through fabric. There are invisible straps on the body suit, too. Belts were made out of extra black pvc I had from an old costume.

My wings were made out of pvc pipes, chicken wire, felt, and of course, lots and lots of feathers. The harness is also made of felt with about 4 pockets in it so the pvc pipes can slide into the harness. The idea was to make the wings detachable, and I managed to get them detachable in pairs. They get lopsided pretty easily, but transportation is a lot easier. There are also invisible straps on the harness. The feathers were purchased by my wonderful boyfriend from Rainbow Feathers CO, and I got help from my friend Lynzy gluing them on since there was no way I could finish it by myself in time for the convention. I think I spent 2hrs by myself, then Lyn and I spent about 7hrs together finishing them. They aren't heavy, but it does wear on me after awhile since I am kind of wimpy.

The sash thing was made out of wire, interfacing, and boa. Although it does stand up on its own, it tends to slide down my arms, so I'll have to edit that if I wear this again.

The boot covers were made the usual way with 2 pieces of fabric sewn together, then I glued on the feathers and attached the belt etc.

I didn't do anything special with the wig, besides cut a lot of length off. I attempted to hand sew some hooks to it so that my helmet would hook onto it, but it didn't really work out. But on the plus side, the helmet did just hook onto any where on the wig pretty easily. But, it did slip around a lot and needed adjustments.

This was probably above my level, but I learned a lot from it and I'm hoping to make even better costumes in the future!
Personal Thoughts:
This was a dream cosplay for such a long time for me, I'm so glad I attempted this! I can only tolerate wearing it for about an hour, but it was a great experience. I'll probably do touch ups in the future and wear this somewhere else one day.
