This was... Stupid hard mode. I made everything: Pants, shirt, coat, cape, cravat, and altered the heck out of the wig and boots. The 3DMG unit and swords destroyed my garage and the boxes were super last minute!
Jacket: Drafted from scratch minus the sleeves. I got a Vogue pattern, decided it was awful, then used the pattern paper to make up the rest. Fully lined and faced with handstitched bindings. The patches are professionally embroidered and I simply satin stitched them to the jacket. Well... "simply" I say...
Shirt: Shortened the collar, cuffs, and shoulder width of a men's shirt pattern, and eliminated the front placket since Levi's shirt doesn't have one.
Pants: dyed white stretch denim with 1/4 pack of Tulip grey. Eliminated the side pockets and rearranged the belt loops of a commercial pants pattern. I kid you not, this is the first legit pair of pants I ever made. Afterwards I added button holes in the thighs to run an internal harness up underneath.
Cravat: Same method as Austria's; a pleated rectangle.
Belts: PURSE STRAP BLANKS (from China)! Buckles from Tandy leather and local finds. Masking tape over a dressform to get the angles correct, sewn with a leather needle. Added a few heavy snaps to keep the general shape, and elastic around the foot area under the boot. There's some elastic wherever the straps are covered to add some much needed give.
3DMG: Carved balsa for the grips, resin bondo and wonderflex for the back unit, ghostboard and wonderflex for the boxes. There is literally nothing I can say to convey the anguish involved in making this XD
All of the harness mounts (thigh plates, belt plates, back plates) sculpted in prima and cast in resin. The boxes are actually mounted on my thigh plates via heavy bolts. There are no extra straps! I'm the most proud of that, to be honest. - Personal Thoughts:
- Each and every one of you has such a damn silly face! AHHHHHHH *A*
There are rarely characters that I love the way I love Levi... I just want to *be* him, I swear ahahaha~ We're the same height and everything!
Being Levi IS SO DAMN FUN I just glare everyone into submission, it's beautiful.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- Cut the back down, sewed the cut hair back into it to thicken it up, added a false lace-front cut from another wig, and heat trained all over the place. More of a pain in the ass than it sounds...
- Wig Review
- It's way too fiber-heavy in the front for some reason, and the weirdo hairline is definitely not meant to show despite the glorious 5" skintop.
GORGEOUS FIBER MFG
