About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
all the armor parts are made of worbla and craft foam. i probably could have made the entire costume without actual armor pieces but it's called magical armor so i figured why not. i basically just patterned the pieces and cut one in craft foam and two from worbla. the craft foam is sandwiched between the worbla and heat formed to the right shape. added details on top of that, the little flowers aren't part of the original design but i wanted to add them because they match some of the details on the other girls costumes. i didn't bother to wood glue or sand. i just primed and painted. i tried to do a little bit of shading and high lighting. the breast plate is attached to a bra and the arm pieces are just about the right size to stay up on their own. i wear sweat bands under the wrist things for comfort and to keep them in place. i glued the knee pads on.
the body suit is just an altered leotard pattern. i used some kind of stretch jersey. it was really hard to find a color i was happy with so i had to settle for something in a fabric that was a little difficult to work with. the fabric is very thin so i lined the all the green fabric pieces with super thick white spandex. the silver edging is just silver bias tape i bought online. i sewed craft foam into the collar so it would be extra sturdy.
shorts are made out of white stretch pleather. i cut up an existing pair of shorts to make a pattern. added bias tape details and put in grommets for a tie that doesn't do anything.
the gloves are the same white pleather as the shorts and some scraps of metallic black stretch fabric i had laying around. the black and white parts are sewn together so it's a single piece.
the boot covers are the part i'm least happy with. i was running out of fabric so i made a partial cover instead of one that went around the entire shoe. had to paint my shoes green and it was flaking by the end of the day, thankfully not too bad though. least favorite part of the shoe cover is the green bias tape. i ended up just hot gluing it on. - Personal Thoughts:
- sarah has been dying to do these costumes forever and we finally got a good group to do it. finally got to cosplay chie who's my favorite p4 girl. overall i'm pretty happy with how the costume turned out, i felt really buff wearing it for some reason. pulled a muscle kicking and doing the splits in this costume T_T
