I did a quick search for "Edwardian bathing suit pattern" and found http://www.pastpatterns.com/5102.html. I ended up using black flannel to make it. It's period appropriate and much more comfortable than canvas. I bought a remnant of ivory fabric that reminded me of his vest to do the cuffs and belt. I may end up replacing them with flannel as well.
The rest was simple. I bought some inexpensive goggles on Amazon. I replaced the elastic with black ribbon and the connector with some chain. These stood in for his monocle.
I found a great wooden-handled black umbrella on Amazon to fill in for his cane. The bandana served as a stand in for his hat, and to hide most of the Titanium Blonde Rufio. The color is perfect, but the style...not so much.
To finish things off I went with some white cotton over-the-knee socks from Sock Dreams and black flats. It works with the period and really works with the look. This is going to DragonCon for as long as the group exists! - Personal Thoughts:
- I was informed at Dragon*Con 2013 that I need to join the Bathing Beauties. We each pick a Doctor and then do a female version in an appropriate bathing suit. I decided to pick One because the idea of doing an Edwardian-era bathing suit sounds like so much fun!
