About this Costume
Construction Details:
Sapphire is a super cute disney and shojo design without being too complicated! Originally intended to wear for Mickey's Halloween at Disneyland, I wanted to use more dressy fabrics so I can bow to the princesses at the park ^^ I may not go this year but I finished the costume for Japan Expo. Very simple microsuede tunic made from a modified coat design, brocade puffed/slashed sleeves, peter pan collar I made as a necklace, modified dollar store jewelry for brooch and belt buckle, straw beach hat with crepe satin "pillow" hearts~ and a hodgepodge of matching white trim with pink sequins! The foam sword I bought, mix in 2 layers of dance tights and WE'RE READY TO FIGHT WITCHES, COURT PIRATES, AND TAKE BACK THE THRONE!! Oh Prince Charming, plz, you can't handle me just yet.
Personal Thoughts:
Vertical Inc. translated the Princess Knight (Ribbon no kishi) in 2012-2013 and I fell in love with the story of the innocent Princess who was raised as a Prince. A Tezuka classic that is getting a new life in English thanks to the remarkable efforts of Right Stuf Inc. and Nozomi Ent. I Wore this for Masq at Japan Expo and just had a blast! Lots of older Japanese exhibitors asked for photos of/with me, including 2 reps from Tezuka Productions! They gave me a TEZUKA SPOT! sticker! ahhh!! One older lady from the art exhibits was fawning over how nostalgic I made her feel.. I bowed to her and we took photos together~!
