About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Most of this was successful (like the clothing I sewed and the hat), but the craft foam belt and leafy accents were not. I'm happy with the shapes and general construction, but I didn't do enough research on using craft foam and unfortunately didn't seal the foam enough. It all stayed soft, so the belt bent a lot, slid down constantly (too loose), and warped in a way that I had to stop wearing the costume on the first day. I will need to fix that for next time.
Clothing parts were pretty simple: the striped fabric is red-on-white pinstriped spandex. I used a pattern for a cowl neck shirt that I modified to fit me and to have a longer cowl. I used and modified a simple dress pattern to make the tunic, and had to make my own patterns for the leg covers and over-the-shoulders piece.
The hat is a short brimmed umpire cap I bought on eBay and spray painted completely metallic gold in a few coats, the topper is Sculpey clay, also painted gold and accented with some bronze. Faux fur sides and flaps are hand sewn on by me and the topper is super glued. I also added a tiny dinosaur sticker to the hat near the brim.
Cream Starter is made of Sculpey clay with some crumpled foil inside to make it lighter and less fragile. I then painted it metallic gold with bronze shadowing/weathering. - Personal Thoughts:
- I actually came across Hot Pants just before I started reading SBR while eyeballing the JJBA Wiki and loved her design. Luckily, I began loving her as a character as I read SBR. :)
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I wore the wig as my friend cut off the two longer points framing the face to be the same length as the rest. She also trimmed the bangs so they'd stay out of my eyes.
- Wig Review
- I love Arda. Their wigs are so comfortable and they're big enough to accommodate my big head without squeezing. I don't even need a wig cap!
