About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The garment includes a corset, petticoat and jacket. The corset is lined, boned, and has a padded bra. It is embellished with hand-sewn beads, pearls and chain.
The petticoat is gathered tulle with a sequin chiffon overlay and decorative ribbon waistband.
The jacket is lined, has a stand-up collar, raglan sleeves, and clasp closures. The ruffles on the jacket are hand painted with fabric paint, the bottom row by my friends, family, and colleagues from all across the country.
The horns are made from a styrofoam wreath that I cut in half, sculpted, and drenched in hot glue. I use T-pins to attach them to my wig. The headband is also hot glue. Classy!
The wings are made of hot glue and 12 gauge wire and are tied onto a harness so I can disassemble them for easy transport.
The gauntlets are foamies decorated with hot glue! Yay! - Personal Thoughts:
- I made the corset, skirt, and jacket for a research project as part of my graduate work and I couldn't help but add some crazy accessories to make it wearable for Dragon*Con. The story behind the design of the jacket, corset, and skirt is a bit too in depth and complicated to list here so I won't.
