Construction Details:

The first thought I had was "I HAVE TO USE RED REFLECTIVE TAPE!!!" Anyone who has seen Gundam Unicorn knows that his pilotsuit doesn't light up, but the Unicorn underframe does. I just really wanted to incorporate that!! This is my first copmleted pilotsuit which required a lot of work! Friends helped me make a duct tape dress form and I just went to town drafting patterns/mock ups on it, it was a real learning experience, I had about 5 mockups total. The actual deconstrution of the suit and mock ups were the only time consuming part, sewing the reflective tape and pleather was actually pretty easy once I had the patterns down! I also had to quilt some spandex for the inside turtleneck, which is what makes this cosplay so warm to wear. But it was all worth it. I do want to remake the white parts because of some fit issues, but so happy I got this done for AX 2013! Special thanks to Alex Gil who rendered the Vist Foundation logo for me so I can embroider it at the last minute..!

Personal Thoughts:

I wasn't planning to make this until way later, but then Furuhashi (Director of Gundam Unicorn anime, among other things) was announced for Anime Expo 2013 and I just kicked into overdrive! I was glad to wear this with some amazing ZEON PRINCESSES OF SPACE and just had a blast for the short time I could wear it. Also wore it for SimulTV promotion work and was thrilled that some people recognized me!!
