About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I wanted to use a heavier fabric for the jacket so that it would be stiffer, but I was low on time to dye fabric, and JoAnn's was having a huge sale on country classic solids, so I ended up getting some yellow cotton fabric. It's fairly flimsy, but it's better than it was thanks to interfacing and lining, so it's a light jacket, which I guess was appropriate for Otakon. The collar is made out of a heavier fabric I found. The shorts are a bottomweight fabric I also found at JoAnn's, and I bought OTK black socks and painted on the designs. I also found the black hat and painted on the designs to some gray fabric, which I then attached to the hat. Hard to see because they roll down sometimes, but I also have a layer of stretchy gray fabric over the socks by the top of the shoe. I recycled the white shirt to use for this costume, and I made the blue tie out of some blue fabric I had on hand, though I'm not totally happy with it, and I'm considering making a new tie.
Overall, this costume wasn't too difficult; I just had little time to do it and got stressed out by that lack of time. - Personal Thoughts:
- Leia is such a goofball and a good person with a strong heart who never stops trying to do her best! I had planned on cosplaying Elise, but I thought Xillia 2 Leia was appropriate for me as she has a reporting job in the game, and I just graduated with my journalism degree.
And I love my flamingo pen.

- Styling Notes
- I pulled the sides and back into a low ponytail. As it's all under a hat, I didn't bother stubbing or making it nice, and I discovered as long as I pulled it into a low ponytail, no wefts showed, so it's just back in a ponytail and then stuck under the hat. Otherwise, I trimmed the front sides and the bangs.
- Wig Review
- The Inigo was absurdly wavy when I took it out of the bag and didn't look like the picture. It was pretty easy for my purposes to tie it back and stuff under a hat for this particular costume, though. I really like the Warm Light Brown color.
