About this Costume

There are so many parts to this costume, I have no idea where to even begin. The top is poplin and is based on a nightshirt pattern; there's a ton of elastic in the sleeves and neck/shoulder area. All of the darker red is the matte side of a satin from JoAnn's Casa Collection. The pink is a heavy cotton shirting fabric (also from JoAnn - look near where your store keeps the poplin, and it comes in a couple of colors), which was just perfect - I highly recommend it for all your poofy skirt needs. The underskirt is white poplin and is your basic circle skirt. (The overskirts have pleating in the front and back to help create that "cupcake" shape.) The ears are minky and attach to a single headband that has two separate plastic bands (if that makes sense) - they're sewn to the front band, then anchored to the back so that they stand up. They're fully posable thanks to a layer of floral wire inside. The dice were car dice that were re-covered and stitched to bows; the whole ensemble has an elastic loop that attaches over each twintail. Overall, that whole mess on my head is pretty securely on there; the only issue is a "blinders effect" where I have basically no peripheral vision. The giant butt bow is stuffed with craft foam to get it to hold its shape; as a result, it has to be attached with snaps and safety pins.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I love making bloomers *^*
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- I trimmed the bangs so they framed my face, and took some off the back of the wig (where it meets my neck). I also used my steamer and a couple of clips to heat set the parts that stick up a little.
- Wig Review
- Most comfortable wig I've ever gotten, even from Arda. I also used two long ponytail clips in Light Pink.
