Construction Details:

The top was created using a pretty dupioni silk for the main part and is lined on the inside. I really wanted to add to Yui's simple, but still elegant design by adding some satin stitching along the edge of the collar. I also hand painted the flower motif on the collar, while referencing some Chinese flower paintings.

In order to give that iconic Yuu Watase look, I added wire into the sash like how I did in my first Yui costume. I think I'm going to make the sash longer for next time though.

The necklace was created using jewelry epoxy clay, which seems to be pretty sturdy. Yui's necklace design changes from artwork to artwork, so I decided on a design from one of the manga artworks.

The "skirt" is made using a crepe back satin with a chiffon overlay. I really wanted something breezy and flowy.

Personal Thoughts:

I first made Yui's priestess costume back in 2010 and wanted to re-create the costume again at my current skill level. It was a lot of fun for me to see how much I learned between 2010 and now. This is definitely my most comfortable costume to wear!
