About this Costume
Construction Details:
I made my Sailor Mars fuku modular so all I had to make were Venus's accessories. I used all of the same patterns for consistency. That included the elbow rolls, orange skirt, bows, anklets, orange shoes, sailor collar and choker.

Shoes: I took a pair of black heels and stripped the clear protective layer of the shoe with a cotton ball and acetone. Afterwards I used orange spray paint and lightly sprayed several coats. I made sure to let them dry between coats to ensure they not be tacky.

Elbow rolls: I made the elbow rolls on the bias so the casa satin would stretch a tiny bit. They were lightly stuffed with polyfill.

Skirt and hip roll:
My skirt was basically a circle skirt but the hem had a funky serpentine line to make my legs look longer. I pleated the top where the hip roll was but didn't iron them down so the skirt ruffled.

Choker and other accessories:
I made my heart pendant out of resin and used the mold for my Sailor Mars costume. The bows and choker were made out of casa satin and were interfaced with medium weight interfacing.
Personal Thoughts:
Even though Sailor Mars is my #1 favorite scout, Venus comes in at a close second. She is so funny, lighthearted and positive and I identify with her in that I strive to be positive rather than let hard times jade me. Playing with make-up to come up with something appropriate for Venus was a lot of fun and turned out to be quite flattering. Gold mineral make up is the absolute best because not only was it a pretty eyeshadow, I mixed it with clear gloss for my lips.
