About this Costume
Construction Details:
Leotard is spandex and the stripes were sewn on and are the same fabric as my regular Vanellope tights. Same goes for the skirt, same fabric and technique as the first costume. The cape is mole skin suede because I use it way too often but still not often enough. The braided cord is the same as my original costume as well. I seriously have yards of it! Gloves are vinyl (one is actually my Ymir glove so I wouldn't need to make two!).

The hero cookie and chocolate chip broach were made from Sculpty by me and painted to look a bit more realistic. I seriously can't get over how legit the chocolate chip one looks. I will never make anything better than that. EVER.

The boots were bought on Amazon and I added the knee armor with craft foam and scrap wonderflex. The mask is also scrap wonderflex I had lying around.

The hammer is a combo of styrofoam rounds, insulation foam, craft foam, poster board, model magic and wooden dowels. It's not too heavy, just top heavy; which makes it a little awkward to hold. I was actually surprised it held up during the con since I finished putting it together the night before. HA!
Personal Thoughts:
When my friend Ashley asked me to be part of the group, I was stoked! I loved the concept since they first did the group two years ago. She told me they were adding villains to the group but I couldn't pass up my favorite candy-coated princess/president!

I think I put a lot more thought into the costume than probably necessary, but if you read any of my other costume descriptions, you'll see this is a theme...

I came up with three different superhero designs but ended up with this one because it was the most recognizable. I wanted to stay true to her original costume design as much as possible which was tricky when you're working off of a hoodie. But I also wanted to add a more "racer" look to the whole thing. Thus why I did vinyl racing gloves, stripes on the sleeves, and modeled the mask after classic racing goggles. The Powergirl-style cape was added because I always viewed Vanellope as a mighty character, despite her size. I think she also views herself as a powerful person so I wanted to include something that shows strength.

Of course I had to incorporate the hero cookie somewhere, so I made the entire thing (cookie and neck ribbon) into a belt. Instead of the traditional writing on it, I put a 'V.' Think of it as an insignia? lol I don't know...

The hammer idea was incorporated because Sonic makes so many appearances in the movie. Sugar Rush is a Japanese game so I thought it would go hand-in-hand with a piko-piko hammer, like the one Amy Rose carries. I made it oversized as another nod to Amy but also to make me look smaller and more cartoon-like.
