About this Costume

I made this beast in two weeks. It was a crazy journey full of ruffles and tears. The fabric is shantung that I gradient dyed to try to match the same colors of the artwork. The petticoat is five layers of ruffles with a layer of gathered lace. Sitting on top of that is a bustle/pillow monster that was dyed to match the blue of the costume, and that ties around my waist with ribbon. The tights were painted with fabric paint. I had to make a dummy form of my legs to put the tights on so that I could paint them. For the rose pattern on one leg I used a stencil to make sure it was a giant mess of poorly painted roses. XD The corset is lined and boned using cable ties (which were AMAZING and cheap and really held their shape splendidly!). Each of the bronze pearls were painted and antiqued using brown floral spray paint and a metallic bronze acrylic paint. My favorite part is the shoes though. They were cut to match the shape of the shoes and then painted to match.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Ruffle monster~
