About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
At first, most of my "armor" was made out of epoxy resin. (Except for the pauldrons) I had made an original out of pottery clay and then a mold of silicone and plaster. I tired to go the same with the pauldrons... but that didn't work. So they were made of craft foam covered in gold fabric. 2008 I remade the pauldrons out of just craft foam, molded and spray painted gold. In 2009, I made more alterations. The chest plate is made of craft foam. The belt pieces are made from "Crayola Model Magic." Most of the blue jewels I made out of epoxy. The crown is still the original "craft foam covered in gold fabric" but with additions such and a layer f sticky back foam added to make it have some depth. The original bodice is cut from an altered pattern and made out of a shiny material. I remade the bodice using the same altered pattern (but altered a little more) and used cotton instead. I also added the white symbols around the edge. The white dress is still original. The bottom design was hand painted on with a stencil I drew up and a Q-tip. (so sad) The "apron" is also still original. I used "heatn'bond", drew on the design and ironed it on to my fabric. Then cut it out and ironed it on to the blue fabric. I machine sewed around the design edges.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I redid a few things on this outfit back in 2009, and I'm so very happy with it! This was my first official cosplay, and I miss wearing it! I hope to wear it again in the future.
