About this Costume

Hours to Make - 30 Cost - $85
Favorite Aspect - The arm bands! I absolutely love how they came out, they fit snug and don't slide off.
Least Favorite Aspect - The top, Due to time constraints I rushed it and although it looks good worn its a mess. After I debut it for AnimeNext Ill be reconstructing it so its a solid piece.
Construction Notes
Armbands - I used craft foam as a base in order to get dimension to the bands then adhered the fabric on top of it with fabric tape as opposed to sewing it so it would be seamless. I then adhered the jewels with fabric tape on top of the fabric. Once that was done I sewed hook and eye closures on the ends.
Skirt - Really simple, just a rectangular piece of green spandex with two black strips sewn on either side. I left an extra bit of black at the top of the skirt strips to velcro around the gold circlesso that I could easily remove them when I wanted to wash the skirt.
Calf Armor - Im extremely proud of these. I treated both the shin guards and the knee pads like pillows. I used craft foam for the interior and then sewed "pillow casings" to fit around the layered craft foam. The stitching shows so Im thinking of taking the pieces apart and cutting the fabric so there is more on the front and less in the back so the stitching sits on the inside as opposed to the edges.
Headband - I made this much more complicated the necessary but its simple rectangular green strip with black thin strips on te edges.
Notes - I still have a bit of work to do on this costume before I can happily fold it up and put it aside for future use including her staffs, gloves, hair bands and a mask. As well as redo the top and possibly the base for the shin guards to hide the seams. Im also going to be adding velcro to the shin guards to adhere the kneepads, as well as velcro to the band that goes around the back of the calf to hold it in place and allow it to be tightened. - Personal Thoughts:
- This is my very first cosplay and I am proud of it. I got as much done as I could for AnimeNext, and there are still a few things I have to edit like the top and shin guards as well as make her gloves, hair ties ad staff :) Overall Im really happy with that Ive done so far as its my first time creating anything sewing wise on my own!
